Day Tour to Edfu & Kom Ombo Temples from Luxor by Car

At 7:00 AM, MGOTravel guide will pick you up from your hotel in Luxor and transfer you by private air-conditioned vehicle to Edfu, approximately a 50-minute drive south of Luxor.

Edfu Temple:

Upon arrival, visit the majestic Temple of Edfu, one of the most complete and striking ancient Egyptian temples. It is dedicated to the worship of the god Horus. Situated on the western bank of the Nile, construction began during the reign of Ptolemy III (246–221 BC) in 237 BC and was completed during the reign of Ptolemy XII (80–51 BC), 180 years later.

Kom Ombo Temple:

Continue your tour to Kom Ombo, about a 45-minute drive from Edfu. Upon arrival, visit the Kom Ombo Temple, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Harwer (Horus the Elder). The current structure was built during the Graeco-Roman period (332 BC–395 AD), with most decorations completed under Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos (80–51 BC). The name “Kom Ombo” comes from Arabic kum (“mound”) and Ombo, derived from ancient Egyptian Nubt, meaning “the golden city.”

After the visit, transfer back to your hotel in Luxor.
